Art Space Portsmouth International Artist's Residency

The 2009 residency has been awarded to Frauke Materlik (Germany).

The three-month Art Space Portsmouth International Artist's Residency is aimed at emerging fine artists with some experience of professional practice who may have had limited exposure in the UK and whose work is engaged with contemporary debate within the international art world.

sketchbook, again


Now I'm in the middle of developing a proposal for one of the spaces here at ASP. A structure greeting you as you enter the building, translating the angles from piers and jetties on the coast into a maze of triangular shapes. Having been to Tipner, the colours left a strong impression. Started mixing a colour range that I'd like to try out - a very light faded blue, a rusty orange-brown, a greenish blue-grey. Might apply colours onto the walls as an extension of the actual threedimensional lines.
